The first administrative responsibility of Prince Muhammad was the
Principality of Al-Joaf, which he took over in Ramadan 1357H (1938), when he was
less than 25 years old, succeeding his elder brother Prince Abdulziz who moved
from Al-Joaf to Al-Gurayyat which was then called “The Inspectorate of the
North-Western Borders”.
Upon his assumption of A-Joaf Principality, he started to implement the plans
of the State by developing and expanding the management in the fields of
judicature, pilgrimage, health affairs, transportation, education, post &
telegram, road and buildings. This in addition to concentration of
responsibilities, urbanization of nomads by settlements, availability of water,
administrative division of regions, local security and strengthening of external
relations.
Prince Muhammad implemented these infrastructures for the development of the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He proved his high and unique efficiency in solving the
region problems, establishing friendly interrelations between tribes and
strengthening their relations with the State. He behaved as if he was one of the
ordinary citizens and shared with the peoples their joys and grief. He
endeavored to spread security between people and to stabilize the urban life.
Prince Muhammad didn’t stay long in Al-Joaf Principality as he was
transferred to Jizan. While the citizens of Al-Joaf were very sad upon his
transfer, those of Jizan were overwhelmed by joy and gladness. Al-Joaf citizens
bid farewell to him with feelings of sadness. They expressed their
grief by poetry as did the poet Ghanim Al-Limei in the improvised poetic message
he sent to King Abdulaziz.
Prince Muhammad bin Ahmed Al-Sudairy, stayed in Al-Joaf Emirate for five
years. He wisely handled the people problems relating to life essentials such as
water, pastures .etc.
